Dexter All American Team – Selection to the Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team is based on the student-athlete's bowling accomplishments from the current school year, academic achievement, letters of recommendation, extracurricular and community involvement, submitted essays and resumes. Minimum requirements for selection include a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) and at least one letter of recommendation. Five boys and five girls will be selected annually. Each team member will receive a $1,000 scholarship and an All-American Team award to be presented at the USBC Junior Gold Championships. Kristin Wiedman Wiedman has had great success in her local associations. She was named this year’s Senior/Scholar Athlete, their version of Player of the Year. She also was the individual champion at this year’s sectional championships. Off the lanes Wiedman has been very active, playing soccer, basketball and varsity golf, all while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. She also was a four-year member of the band. Wiedman qualified for the 2007 USBC Junior Gold Championships. “For the All-American it is a responsibility that comes naturally,” Wiedman said. “It is not considered work, but rather fun and interesting, and being an All-American student-athlete acts as its own reward.” Click here for more infomation.
